Bio
With his forthcoming album, The Parish Record, Andrew Duhon pays tribute to his home of New Orleans, LA. With all of its cultural idiosyncrasies, political turmoil, and all of the harsh memories associated with the place he’s most intimately familiar, comes a beauty from the holistically honest stories able to be told and the collection of sonic of influences that can only be forged from immersing himself in such a rich a culture. From his first moment picking up a guitar as a Catholic school teenager playing praise and worship music for the campus ministry, to committing to a life in music after a rotator cuff injury cut his dreams of a career in baseball short, to a Grammy nomination in 2013 for his album The Moorings, and the ability to tour the country year over year, this new album is a culmination of Andrew’s experiences, a reflection on how the land he calls home has influenced those experiences, and a sign of where his songwriting and musical proclivities are headed. Duhon’s single “Comin’ Around” was named a Top 10 Best Country/Americana Song of The Week by Rolling Stone, and he has played the role of cultural ambassador for New Orleans for BBC in their “Insiders Guide to The Best Live Music Venues In New Orleans” and for Meat Church in teaching Matt Pittman the right way to cook a Cajun Stuffed Boneless chicken. The Parish Record will be released in 2025with the first single “Waco Kool-Aid” available on October 18, 2024.
